In the Kyzylorda region, there are nine Solar Power Plants (SPP) with a total capacity of 89 MW. One of them is located in the Zhanakorgan region, with a station power of 10 MW.
The project was implemented by the Russian company Hevel in 7 months and put into operation in March 2021. Construction and installation work at the site has been carried out by a subsidiary of Hek-Kt LLP since September 2020.
The area occupied by the solar power plant is 50 hectares, with 25,346 high-efficiency bifacial heterostructure solar modules installed. These modules are produced using HJT technology, providing additional power generation from the back. The efficiency of solar panels is further enhanced by tracker systems for tracking the movement of the sun, which additionally allows for an increase in electricity generation by an average of 20-25% compared to the static arrangement of photovoltaic modules. The service life of trackers is comparable to that of solar modules, lasting at least 25 years.
The forecasted electricity generation is 19.5 million kWh per year, which will reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere by 10.5 thousand tons. All generated electricity is supplied to the Unified Energy System of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
During the construction of the solar power plant, 100 people were involved, including local contractors. Additionally, 10 permanent jobs were created to service the station.
Kazakhstan has set itself the ambitious goal of bringing the share of renewable energy sources (RES) in total electricity generation to 10% by 2030. To implement this task, the mechanism of auctions is used to select the most effective projects for the construction of renewable energy facilities, taking into account the best world experience.
RES is included in the list of priority activities for which investment preferences are provided. The national company KAZAKH INVEST assists investors of "green" energy projects in participating in auctions by organizing training webinars, concluding investment contracts, and accompanying projects.
