The project of a new thermal power plant for Kyzylorda city was presented to the President

Last year, the Ministry of Energy signed an agreement with the Turkish company “Aksa Enerji Uretim AS” on the construction of a new combined cycle plant in the regional center. The capacity of the new thermal power plant, built with foreign investment, will be 240 MW of electricity and 277 Gcal per hour of thermal energy. The planned cost of the project is KZT 215 billion.

According to the region akim, preparations for construction are in full swing. The combined heat and power plant will be commissioned by the end of 2025. It will fully meet the needs of local residents for heat and electricity, and supply the excess to other regions.

The existing thermal power plant was built in 1964, the level of wear and tear of its main and auxiliary equipment reached 90%. In addition, almost half of the city’s heating networks, the total length of which is 207.7 kilometers, need modernization.

Having familiarized himself with the project, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev noted its importance for strengthening the country’s energy security.

The Head of State instructed the Government and the Akimat to put the thermal power plant into operation within the established time frame.
